Guyana, November 2025: Âé¶¹´«Ã½AV (Âé¶¹´«Ã½AV) School of Medicine, one of Guyana’s leading medical institutions, proudly reaffirmed its dedication to advancing medical education and strengthening healthcare development in the country. During a courtesy call on Prime Minister, Brigadier (Ret’d), the Honourable Mark Phillips, who is currently performing the functions of President, Âé¶¹´«Ã½AV shared its continued vision of excellence and growth.
The meeting, held at the Office of the Prime Minister on Camp Street, focused on Âé¶¹´«Ã½AV’s expansion plans, scholarship opportunities for Guyanese students, and the university’s role in strengthening healthcare delivery and capacity-building within the country.
Âé¶¹´«Ã½AV President Dr. Washim Sayed Leads the Delegation
The university’s delegation was led by Dr. Washim Sayed, President of Âé¶¹´«Ã½AV, along with Dean Dr. Rohit Mishra and Directors Mr. Zaman Syed, Mr. Repon, and Mr. Shaim Syed. During the meeting, Dr. Sayed presented the future infrastructure and academic expansion projects of the Âé¶¹´«Ã½AV, which were focused on improving the experiences of the students and adjusting the standards of the university to the international medical education standards..
He emphasized Âé¶¹´«Ã½AV’s ongoing mission to provide high-quality and affordable medical education in Guyana, enabling students to build meaningful careers in healthcare while contributing to the country’s development.
Strengthening Access Through Scholarships
A key highlight of the meeting was Âé¶¹´«Ã½AV’s plan to expand scholarship programmes for Guyanese students pursuing medical degrees.
